Look, we all love skeuomorphism. Without reservation, I will admit to drooling over digital interfaces made entirely of green felt and leather stitching. That’s why this Android launcher is just so darn good. 3D Home turns your home screen into a room. Everything you use on your phone becomes an object in this room – a digital recreation of a real world item. Clearly, you must have this immediately. Lucky you, it’s free.

You get around 3D Home by swiping just like in other launchers. If you want to check out a video, just use the TV on the wall. Apps? Tap the Windows 8 computer on the table. Also on the table is a camera to open your camera, a mailbox to get to your email, and an address book to open your contacts. Want to make a call? Use the telephone sitting on the table! Duh. The table, as far as I can tell, doesn’t do anything. This disappoints me.

You can also decorate the walls of your new pad with apps and widgets. What more could you want? What’s that? Outdated UI elements? Well, this launcher also has a legacy menu button on devices with on-screen navigation bars.

But really, this app is horrendously tacky. It’s also kind of fascinating, though. This is skeuomorphism run amok, and there are a lot of people that like this. 3D Home currently has over 100,000 downloads and 4.5 stars in Google Play. Matias Duarte is super-sad now.
